Garden Filled with Butterflies!

This past Monday I went shopping, with my friend, Debbie, to one of my favorite shops, Violette’s Scrapbook Store.  First, going to this store is very dangerous, it has 12–YES–12 rooms of stuff to shop!  Second, it has been months since I have been there.  And, third, it has been months since I have been shopping with Debbie.  So, needless to say, by the time I left Violette’s was a little richer and I was a little poorer .  But, to my defense they do have such pretty things that could not pass up.

Anyway, a couple of the stamps I  bought are from Northwoods and I could not wait to use in a card.  Butterflies are so much fun and I have always loved them.  I, of course, used my Sue Wilson dies.  But, I also used a new (or new to me) ink for stamping.  It works great with the Copics and stamps so well.  It is the My Favorite Things hybrid ink pad.  Believe me I will be buying additional colors to play with now since I’ve tried the black.

Here is the recipe for the card:

Northwoods Rubber Stamps:  09927 – front, D9940 – inside

Sue Wilson Noble Dies Double Pierced Rectangles

Sue Wilson Gemini Dies – Pavo

Sue Wilson Die – Finishing Touches – Petite Vinery

Sue Wilson/Creative Expression embossing folder – Eternity

Copics

Yellow flowers  – Y00, Y04, Y08, Y19, Y68

Purple flowers – RV52, RV63, RV65, V06

Pink flowers – RV0000, RV00, RV63

Flower center – YR68, Y08

Grass YG45

Stella Wink Glitter – Clear

My Favorite Things Ink – Black

Bazzill Cardstock

I hope everyone is having a great week and puts a little wild and crazy into their day.  We have only 1 life and it shouldn’t be lived boring!

Another House Mouse – Chamomile Nap

You will find I love House Mouse stamps.  When I say love-I mean I have a difficult time passing them up.  They are just so cute!

The one I have for you today is Chamomile Nap.  I thought it perfect for a friend’s birthday card.  A birthday should be a day of rest and napping.  Well, it should–but we know it rarely is.

This stamp is colored with Copic markers and I am very satisfied with the results.   I don’t remember the markers I used since this card was done months ago, but in the future I’ll try and make a note of the markers I use.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to scan and cut the stamp.  There would have been no way I could have hand cut this to look this nice.  The scan and cut feature on the Cameo is awesome!

The card itself is one I found on Sue Wilson’s blog and really loved the design and thought it perfect to go with the stamp.  However, for the life of me, I cannot find it on her blog to link it here.  I would love to be able to give credit where credit is due and link to the instructions, so if you know the page where the instructions—-please, please, please place the link in the comments so I can post it.

The dies used are Sue Wilson dies, Classic Adorned Rectangles and the Weaving dies.  The weaving die were really fun to play with.  Just cut out the dies and weave the smallest pieces together from each set.  It is a little tedious, but I liked the results.

Here is a break down of what I used.

Stampendous – Relax Enjoy your day

Sue Wilson Nobles Dies – Classic Adorned Rectangles – ink decorative piece with VersaMark Ink and then cut.  Emboss afterward.

I also used Bazzill cardstock

I would love to hear your comments on what you think on this card!

Have a great day!  And, don’t forget to try and put a little crazy in it, too!  It keeps people on their toes!

WE HAVE A GRADUATE!

I am such a proud mama.  My baby girl has received her Bachelor of Science Criminal
Justice.

Watching her walk across the stage was one of the proudest moments of my life.  She worked so hard.  My husband and I could hardly contain ourselves with the pride.

I do have to say, at first, I was annoyed the university scheduled the ceremony on Mother’s Day weekend.  But, what better gift could a mother receive than her child receiving a hard earned degree.

On Mother’s Day, my daughter went with her dad to see her grandmother and my son treated me and my husband to lunch for Mother’s Day.  I am so proud of my son, he is a veteran, and now works at a job which he excels.

This was not a weekend of crazy, it was a weekend of pride in my children.

I do hope all the mothers (including fur baby mothers) had a wonder weekend.  And, this is to include the women who do not have biological children, but are vital in children’s lives.  You, too, should be celebrated at Mothers.

Sending love to everyone.

Graduation!!!!

Saturday will be a big day for us.  My baby girl (she’s 23) will be graduating from college!  I can’t believe where the time’s gone.  Just 5 minutes ago she was 6 and wanting to tag along with me everywhere.  Now, she is out on her own.  Brings a tear to a mother’s eye, happy and sad.  Happy that she has completed her degree and sad that she is no longer that little girl that tags along with her mama.

Well, with anything that comes around such as this–I made a card.  Don’t worry she won’t see it, since I haven’t said anything to her about this blog.  So I’m safe to show it.  I’m really happy with how it came out.   For my cardmaking, crafty peeps, here is the breakdown of the materials I used:

Sue Wilson Noble Dies Classic Adorned Rectangles
Cut the interior decorative with the oval cut out

Also, cut interior rectangle piece from this set along with the second to the largest rectangle piece in the

Sue Wilson Noble Dies – Ornate Pierced Rectangles – also use the decorative rectangle piece with the previous rectangle cut. Cut 1 without the decorative cut and then cut one with.

Sue Wilson Scandinavian Collection cut 4 corner pieces

Sue Wilson – Double pierced Rectangles – Cut largest die

House Mouse Graduate Stamp

Recollections Stamps

Final dimensions of the card are 7 ½ “ x 8 ½”

I had a blast working on this card and I hope she likes it.

Ok, on to more pressing things to do today. Like housework………..UGH!

Maybe I can get one of the fur babies to do it for me? Wishful thinking? What about hubby?   More wishful thinking? Who knows, we shall see.

Welcome!

Hi, welcome to my new blog, my Corner of Crazy. Well, that is my world.   So, why not share it.

I’m Kim, by the way. I am married with 2 grown kids and 1 grand daughter, who I believe is the best. And, a house full of fur babies who keep us laughing and busy.

My life is full of challenges and want to share how I cope and hope get feedback on how others cope with the same challenges.

I have Multiple Sclerosis (diagnosed 2006). Currently, I am doing ok, but have my ups and downs. I manage it with medications and humor. If I lose my humor, then I really have a problem.

I am also the caregiver for my husband with PTSD.   Believe me, it is an experience trying to get someone twice your size to take their medications when they believe they are just fine. Fortunately, we haven’t had this issue in a long time, but it has happened and let me tell you I didn’t ask for that “E” ticket ride! But, we got through that rocky patch and he is on a smooth patch right now (fingers crossed).

You will find me sharing pictures of my quilting and paper crafts. These hobbies keep me sane and I find some peace while working with them.

This is a short and sweet introduction. With each post you will get a larger peek into my crazy world.

This is one of the fur babies, Lucy.
