It has to be cold somewhere

Good afternoon!

Yes, I do know it is cold–somewhere.  But, not here in Florida.  We’ve been in the 80’s and 90’s forever!  It is October and do  you think we would have had some relieve from the hot–noooooo not here.  We just get hurricanes (my family is fine, we only got some rain and a little wind from Hurricane Matthew).  I don’t want the really cold weather, but a little lower temps would be appreciated.  However, NO SNOW!  I don’t do snow.  It’s pretty to see in pictures and on TV (when it is somewhere other than here).  I just prefer to watch it from afar.  Just saying….

Anyway, on to today’s card.  This card is for my Christmas card stash.  I just loved the mice (Lantern Warmth) in this image.  But, then again I love the House Mouse stamps.  I made it a couple of weeks ago and I am sooooo pleased with how it came out.  I really suck at using the Copic greys and decided it was time to sit down and tackle them with this card.  Usually, it will take me many tries to get an image “just right” for me.  I nit pick my color choices and the techniques to death (I know, OCD!) and I expected the same for this image.  Color (pun intended-lol!) me surprised when it only took 2 tries!  It must have taken me 3-4 days to work on it.  I would work on it for a little while and then step away, and do the same a little while later.  It didn’t help I was battling horrible pain associated with Multiple Sclerosis.  But, I eventually got it done.  YIPPEEE!

House Mouse Lantern Watch

House Mouse Lantern Watch

This card design is very simple.  For some reason I’ve had a block associated with card designs, lately.  So, I stepped back and decided this would be a basic design using the largest die in the Sue Wilson Belgian Collection – Brussels set.  Since the lantern image reminds me of Christmas, the sentiment stamp It beginning to look a lot like Christmas seemed perfect.   I have had the Spellbinders Ornamental Tags Three for a couple of years and still hadn’t used it.  I just had to cut off the top portion of the die and was left with the pierced oval for the sentiment.  The stars and snow were achieved using the Quickie Glue Pen, Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Dust glitter, and Sparkle ‘n Sprinkle Fascination glitter.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take the time to note down the Copic markers used (sorry).  I can tell you I used the cool greys for the lantern, some of the pale blues for the glass, yellows for the candle glow and the violets for the cape.  The mice were colored with E50, E51, E53, E93, E30, E31, E33 and E34.

I hope everyone enjoyed viewing this card as much as I enjoyed making it.  I can foresee more use from this stamp.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful and peaceful Sunday!

Hugs,

K

It’s been awhile!

Things have been so hectic here at my house.  We’ve been looking (and bought) a piece of property and are preparing to have a home put on it.  So, we are now packing everything up and preparing for moving day.  I can’t wait!

I have been crafting some during this chaos.  Christmas cards need to be completed along with sympathy and get well cards.  This isn’t including I have birthday cards to make prior to the holidays!  The work of a crafter is never done……

A dear friend has been very ill for the last couple of months.  I can’t do much for the illness, but I could make a card to bring a smile to her face.  And, since the stamp used was a House Mouse stamp (Quick Recovery) she could help but smile.

I did have some difficultly coloring this image with my Copic markers.  For some reason, I just couldn’t get the blending right for the basket and no matter what color combination I used, the basket looked like a blob.  So, I put the markers up and pulled out my Prismacolor pencils. Big, big difference!  I hadn’t taken much time to play with the pencils because my markers always work so well.  However, I did find with this image the pencils came out beautiful.  I am very pleased with the look and the blending.

I used the Sue Wilson Stacked Diamond striplet in the background and used sticky paper with Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Dust behind the cut outs.  The image was cut out using the PixScan mat.  I love having the ability to take a picture of the mat (image on the mat, of course) and sending it to the Silhouette software to trace and cut out.  No fussy cutting for me.  YAY!  Don’t know what I would do without my Silhouette Cameo to help with the cutting.  It is awesome!

In addition, I have started using the Fun Stampers Journey Fusion Inks.  These inks are great because they can be used just like an Archival ink, but Copics can still be used with this ink, unlike Archival inks (Archival inks trash Copic nibs!).  In addition, this ink can be used on any surface.  This beats trying to find which ink to use on paper and then a different on wood, fabric and acrylic (heat set on non-paper materials).  I  have provided a link for the FSJ glitter and the ink, give it a try and let me know what you think.

This card is entered into the House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.

I do hope you enjoyed viewing my card and reading my rambling.

Hugs!

Sympathy Tulips

I always find it difficult to make a sympathy card.  It may be because the loss of a friend or loved one is difficult to process, or not knowing what to say to someone who has lost a loved one.

This past weekend I attended the funeral of a dear friend’s husband.  He had been a combat veteran and left behind a wife and kids.  The wife requested no flowers in lieu she requested donations be made to a Go Fund Me.  It is a very long and heart wrenching story and can only pray she and her children find peace and resolution to their struggles.

Since she requested no flowers I gave her flowers.  Well, my way of giving flowers.  Tulips because they are happy and hope they may bring a little smile to her and her children.

I made this card with Sue Wilson dies and the image cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I, absolutely, love the PixScan mat!  Boy, does it beat fussy cutting images.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner.

Hugs,

Kim

House Mouse Friendly Dreams

Hi all!

Another post today to share a Christmas card I finished this weekend.  I’m actually getting a little bit of an early start.  The stamp is Stampendous House-Mouse Friendly Dreams.  Isn’t it cute?  I used many elements on this card and I love how it came out.

Of course, I used my Sue Wilson dies and my Copic markers.  The image, sentiment and the Poinsettia striplets were popped up for dimension.

I am entering this card in the House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.

Make a Wish

This weekend was my dear hubby’s birthday.  Every year I try to make something different for his card and this year I kept it clean and simple  He loves the cards I make with the House Mouse stamps.  He wasn’t disappointed with this card.  He loved it!  The stamp I used is called Make A Wish 02.  I tried to find one to link to this post, but this stamp is retired and the only ones I found were on eBay and Easy.    This stamp is so happy and fun and I loved coloring it.  Who doesn’t like a cupcake!

I colored the image with my Copic Markers and used the Copic Multiliner to accent the fur and around the eyes.  The Copic Multiliner is great because it is compatible with Copic Markers and do highlight specific areas of the image.   I also used the new Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud Blending Inks in Barely Nude and Fosty Mink.  These inks are very easy to work with and using them with the new Creative Expressions Mini Smoothies.  These new smoothies are so much easier to work with versus other blending sponges I have used in the past.

I am entering this card in the House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is A Day Spent with Friends.

Happy Father’s Day

I know this is a little late in posting, but things have been a little hectic around my home.

This is a card I made for my son for Father’s Day. I used my Copic Markers to color the image. This time I concentrated on using the warm grey colors. I have never really worked with them, so lately I’ve been forcing myself to work them more into my images.

Fathers Day

The stamps I used is from the Sparkle ‘n Sprinkle Wild Cats set. This is the perfect stamp set for the men in your life.  I also played with the new Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud Blending Inks.  I love them!

This is the list of supplies I used.  Sorry I didn’t write down the exact Copic colors I used.

Happy Anniversary with a House Mouse Birdie Kiss!

Sunday was the 17th wedding anniversary for me and my husband.  We’ve had ups and downs, but we’ve remained together and gotten stronger.  And, this little House Mouse Birdie Kiss reminds me
of my husband who now remembers to bring me flowers.  It makes my heart melt.

I used the Stampendous House Mouse Birdie Kiss stamp for this card.  Isn’t just the cutest stamp.  I had colored it about a year and a half ago and set the image aside until I started making this card.  And, it is perfect!  The printed vellum in the background I picked up a few years ago on clearance and can’t remember the product name.  I used the Sue Wilson Scandinavian Collection – Background Die   and I also pulled out one of the Spellbinders dies.  I had a great deal of fun making this card for my husband and he really enjoyed receiving it.

Another House Mouse – Chamomile Nap

You will find I love House Mouse stamps.  When I say love-I mean I have a difficult time passing them up.  They are just so cute!

The one I have for you today is Chamomile Nap.  I thought it perfect for a friend’s birthday card.  A birthday should be a day of rest and napping.  Well, it should–but we know it rarely is.

This stamp is colored with Copic markers and I am very satisfied with the results.   I don’t remember the markers I used since this card was done months ago, but in the future I’ll try and make a note of the markers I use.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to scan and cut the stamp.  There would have been no way I could have hand cut this to look this nice.  The scan and cut feature on the Cameo is awesome!

The card itself is one I found on Sue Wilson’s blog and really loved the design and thought it perfect to go with the stamp.  However, for the life of me, I cannot find it on her blog to link it here.  I would love to be able to give credit where credit is due and link to the instructions, so if you know the page where the instructions—-please, please, please place the link in the comments so I can post it.

The dies used are Sue Wilson dies, Classic Adorned Rectangles and the Weaving dies.  The weaving die were really fun to play with.  Just cut out the dies and weave the smallest pieces together from each set.  It is a little tedious, but I liked the results.

Here is a break down of what I used.

I would love to hear your comments on what you think on this card!

Graduation!!!!

Saturday will be a big day for us.  My baby girl (she’s 23) will be graduating from college!  I can’t believe where the time’s gone.  Just 5 minutes ago she was 6 and wanting to tag along with me everywhere.  Now, she is out on her own.  Brings a tear to a mother’s eye, happy and sad.  Happy that she has completed her degree and sad that she is no longer that little girl that tags along with her mama.

Well, with anything that comes around such as this–I made a card.  Don’t worry she won’t see it, since I haven’t said anything to her about this blog.  So I’m safe to show it.  I’m really happy with how it came out.   For my cardmaking, crafty peeps, here is the breakdown of the materials I used:

Sue Wilson Noble Dies Classic Adorned Rectangles
Cut the interior decorative with the oval cut out

Also, cut interior rectangle piece from this set along with the second to the largest rectangle piece in the

Sue Wilson Noble Dies – Ornate Pierced Rectangles – also use the decorative rectangle piece with the previous rectangle cut. Cut 1 without the decorative cut and then cut one with.

Sue Wilson Scandinavian Collection cut 4 corner pieces

Sue Wilson – Double pierced Rectangles – Cut largest die

House Mouse Graduate Stamp

Recollections Stamps

Final dimensions of the card are 7 ½ “ x 8 ½”

I had a blast working on this card and I hope she likes it.

Ok, on to more pressing things to do today. Like housework………..UGH!

Maybe I can get one of the fur babies to do it for me? Wishful thinking? What about hubby?   More wishful thinking? Who knows, we shall see.
